My Father, Lt. Col. E.J. Andersen was, first and foremost, a Marine Corps fighter pilot. That is what defined him. He died in 1995 after a long battle with a tedious and unjust disease commonly referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease", aka "A.L.S.". There was no glory or grace to it, just a grinding pace of his slow deterioration. I feel as if it was a truly unrighteous end to a hero, my hero. My name is Julianne Andersen, and I am part of my Father's legacy, as is my mother and my sister. We're a small family, but we make a lot of noise. Mostly my sister. My father left us with well planned and organized financial affairs, a house in Bellevue, WA, an assortment of Marine Corps memorabilia, a collection of 'Time Life' book series, and his records. Slowly but methodically my Mother's unburdened herself of the Time-Life series. But, the records, the records remain. Largely untouched, gathering dust, and taking up space. Had it occurred to him, I suspect he would've taken the records with him.
These 500 (give or take) albums have long needed to be sorted, cataloged, and dispatched to a better place. If this were an easy task, I would've done it a long time ago, but it's a physically and emotionally large project. And, I haven't had the room. But, as of 2010, 15 years after this collection of vinyl was abandoned, I have cleared the physical space in my house to get this done. Emotionally, well, it's been long enough. My intent is to do these records justice, and by extension, pay tribute to my Father. As I play through this, I will catalog the records and anything that does not appeal to me, my own person at this point, I'm more than happy to adopt out to any good homes.

The Rat Pack didn't need Excel...Quick Update - Decided last spring to combine this project-of-the-past with some improving-of-my-future and really work on my barely rudimentary Excel skills via using it to catalog the records. Ok. Well. ANYHOO...More than a few profanities and less than Excel-lent spread sheets later, spiral notebooks are back in the picture...
